Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant had to leave the contest against the Atlanta Hawks early on Friday night after he suffered a left knee sprain.
His injury happened while he was on the offensive end, handling the ball, and limped along the baseline to the Memphis bench. Morant was immediately helped off the court and didn’t return to the game, while the Grizzlies later announced that his preliminary imaging showed he has suffered a left knee sprain.
As ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports, more testing will follow to give Grizzlies a better understanding of the injury’s severity, as well as a timetable for Morant’s return to action.
Morant is having a breakthrough season with the Grizzlies and is currently eighth overall in the NBA in scoring with an average of 25.3 points per game, along with 7.1 assists.
