After being out due to COVID-19, Joel Embiid has returned to action with an impressive performance but it wasn’t enough for the Sixers who were outplayed by the Timberwolves with 121-120 after two overtimes.
For the victors, D’Angelo Russell scored 35 and dished eight assists while Karl-Anthony Towns had 28 points and ten boards. On the opposing side, Embiid banked in 42 points while adding 14 rebounds and three assists. Furkan Korkmaz helped out with seven points.
Luka Doncic shined among the Europeans with 33 points, ten assists, and four boards but it came in a 120-114 loss to the Washington Wizards. Maxi Kleber and Kristaps Porzingis scored 13 each.
Meanwhile, the New York Knicks got a 99-90 win over the Hawks who not only lost the game but also lost Bogdan Bogdanovic and Cam Reddish to injuries.
Evan Fournier scored 20 points for the victors while, on the other side, Clint Capela had 16 points and 21 rebounds.
Devin Booker scored 30 points as the Phoenix Suns got the better of the Brooklyn Nets with 113-107 on the road. Chris Paul had 22 points, eight boards, five assists.
Kevin Durant was huge for the losing team with 39 points, nine assists, seven rebounds while James Harden logged a triple-double with 12 points, 13 boards, 14 assists.
A number of Europeans had solid outings. Bojan Bogdanovic scored 11 for Utah in a win over New Orleans for which Jonas Valanciunas had 12 points and 12 boards.
Nikola Vucevic logged seven points, 13 boards for Chicago. In the duel between Cleveland and Orlando (105-92), Lauri Markkanen had 20 points followed by Cedi Osman with ten. For Orlando, Franz Wagner put up 12 points, eight boards, four assists while Moe Wagner scored nine.
