Giannis Antetokounmpo posted a double-double with 26 points and 13 rebounds as the Milwaukee Bucks extended their winning streak to seven games, with a 118-110 win over the Indiana Pacers. The reigning champions have now moved up to the fourth place of the Eastern Conference standings after a clumsy start into the new season.
Caris Levert led the Pacers with 23 points while Domantas Sabonis was held off and only added 4 points, though he was productive in other areas of the court with 10 rebounds and 5 assists.
The Boston Celtics had five players scoring in double digits as they beat Toronto Raptors 109-97 on the road. Marcus Smart scored 21 points, Al Horford added 17 points and 11 rebounds. Josh Richardson scored 18 of Boston’s 32 bench points. Jaylen Brown added 16 points, and Grant Williams had 15.
Fred VanVleet led the Raptors with 27 points, Scottie Barnes had 21 points, while Svi Mykhailiuk added 12 points, as the team has now lost its sixth out of their last eight games.
The Memphis Grizzlies overpowered Sacramento Kings 128-101 to get back to games after losing two games straight. Dillon Brooks tapped 21 points for the winners, Desmond Bane added 18 points, Jaren Jackson Jr. followed with 17 points and nine rebounds, and Brandon Clarke had 15 points.
The Kings played without Harrison Barnes, Maurice Harkless and Richaun Holmes, while it was Buddy Hield who led the team with 14 points. Terence Davis added 13 and De’Aaron Fox followed with 12.
Lebron James lifted the Los Angeles Lakers to a 110 – 106 win over the Detroit Pistons a week after his incident with Isaiah Stewart, in what turned out to be a peaceful rematch.
James posted 33 points for the Lakers, Russell Westbrook had 25 points and nine assists and Anthony Davis followed with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Detroit’s Jerami Grant led the team with 32 points and Frank Jackson tapped 17 points.
The Golden State Warriors faced no struggle against the LA Clippers and got away with a 105-90 win. Warriors star Stephen Curry took out his frustration in the fourth quarter when he scored 11 of his total 33 points after being called with a technical foul. Curry seemed to have lost his temper when he didn’t draw a foul, and he approached the game official and made a gesture with his fist resulting in the “T”.
Paul George paced the Clippers with 30 points, while Eric Bledsoe and Marcus Morris both tapped 13 points.
