Luka Doncic’s injury still lingering; no return timeline

Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic had to sit out the game of his team against the Memphis Grizzlies due to ankle soreness and is unknown when he be back on the floor.

As Mavericks coach Jason Kidd said, the ankle sprain that Doncic suffered during a win over the Denver Nuggets on November 16 is still “lingering.” The Slovenian player was cleared to return to action after missing three games but apparently that injury still causes him some problems.

“He’s been sore. It’s just been a busy stretch of games for us, so we’ll see how he feels tomorrow,” Kidd mentioned.

Without Doncic, the Mavericks lost three games in a row for the first time this season, after beginning November with a 5 – 2 record. The two-time All-Star was out in back-to-back losses to the Phoenix Suns and a defeat to the Los Angeles Clippers and his return was combined with a win in overtime over the latter.

He had 26 points, nine rebounds and nine assists in his comeback then.

The Mavericks couldn’t overcome the absence of both Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis Saturday (4/12) and fell to the Grizzlies for a defeat that dropped them to seventh place in the Western Conference standings. Porzingis was out with a left knee contusion.

“He’s getting treatment, and we will monitor his progress,” Kidd said on Porzingis.

While Doncic is leading the Mavericks in points (25.4), rebounds (8.1) and assists (8.5), Porzingis is the team’s second-highest scorer (19.7 points) and rebounder (8.0).
