Chicago Bulls star guard DeMar DeRozan has entered NBA’s health and safety protocols for COVID-19, the team announced by listing the player out vs. the Denver Nuggets (6/12).

According to the league’s protocols, DeRozan, 32, has to produce two negative tests for coronavirus in 24 hours or be isolated for at least 10 days to be cleared to return to action. He’s the third Bulls player to enter the protocols recently after Coby White and Javonte Green who both tested positive for COVID-19 last week.

The news about DeRozan’s absence arrived just shortly after he was named Player of the Week in the Eastern Conference. He averaged 30.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.0 assists while the Bulls won three games against the Charlotte Hornets, New York Knicks and the Brooklyn Nets to climb at the second place of the standings in the East.

DeRozan’s performances have been one of the main reasons the Bulls are sitting on 16 – 8; the fifth-best record in the NBA. The four-time NBA All-Star has been having his most productive run since 2016-2017, averaging 26.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.1 assists while Chicago is on track to return to the playoffs for the first time after five years.
