Miami Heat small forward Jimmy Butler returned to action after missing several games due to a tailbone injury, though his return to action was short-lived in Heat‘s 105-90 loss to Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night.
Butler was taking a shot under the basket when he drew contact and landed on his back in the first quarter of the game. He remained laying on the court before his teammates picked him up and appeared to have hurt his tailbone again.
The Heat star returned to action but ultimately exited the game in the third quarter for the last time. He scored 10 points for the Heat prior to leaving for the bench.
Heat coach Erik Spoelstra commented on the incident after the game: “He drew contact and got shoved and landed on his tailbone again”, he said. “There could not have been a worst scenario for us to start the game. It is a contact sport. It’s an unpredictable thing. Insult to injury, we didn’t get the call on that either”
“[…] He definitely re-aggravated it [tailbone injury]. You can tell from that point on he was not his usual self. So we’ll reevaluate him [Tuesday] and see where we are.”
