Former coach and now the President of basketball operations for the Boston Celtics, Brad Stevens, has been in Serbia in recent days, taking a look at a couple of ABA League duels.
The first game Stevens watched was Partizan versus Cedevita Olimpija as the latter prevailed. Boston’s main focus was on Yam Madar who was Boston’s 47th pick in 2020.
“Madar has done a great job and is in a good position. As a young player, he has a chance to play for Partizan, under Zeljko Obradovic, which is a really big thing for him. I believe he’s using it the best way,” Stevens told Mozzart Sport.
Stevens will also stick around to watch the game of Mega which has been producing a solid number of NBA talent in recent years, including Nikola Jokic. His colleague Austin Ainge compared Mega to college basketball.
“There are similarities between Mege Mozzart and teams from colleges and even the Development League. Here, they get a great chance to play in the Adriatic League, which is at a higher level than the college leagues. It’s a good thing for young players,” he said.
