With the “omicron” variant of COVID-19 ravaging the NBA, one more big-name player entered the list of the health and safety protocols. Luka Doncic is the newest victim of the virus, two days after Dallas announced that German forward Maxi Kleber also entered the protocols.
Doncic was hopeful to return to action on Thursday in the game against the Bucks after missing the last five games due to left ankle soreness. Trey Burke also entered the health and safety protocols and he is the lone unvaccinated player on the Dallas roster.
That brings Dallas’ total of players in NBA’s health and protocols to six. Mavs have already signed or agreed to deals with six replacement players. Per a team announcement, Kristaps Porzingis (right toe soreness)is also questionable for the upcoming game against the Bucks.
