In his first appearance as a starter, Turkish big man Omer Yurtseven registered a career high of 16 points and 15 rebounds as the Miami Heat beat the Orlando Magic 93-83.
With both teams missing many players and potential starters, Yurtseven made the most of his chance and stole the show, as Miami improved to 21-13 and remains fourth in the East.
“I think we just turned it on in the third quarter”, he said after the game. “We knew we could get enough points, we needed stops and we just went at them”.
It was his fifth game with a double figure in rebounds.
While PJ Tucker, Kyle Lowry, Bam Adebayo and Dewayne Dedmon remain out of action – with Lowry being on the health and safety protocols – Jimmy Butler returned to action with 17 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side.
German rookie Franz Wagner finished the night with 13 points for the losing side which has a 7-27 record.
