Chris Paul made an absolutely classy gesture that serves as another example of the rare kind of leader he is.

This superb story took place last week in Boston and during the game between the Phoenix Suns and the Celtics. According to Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes, Paul heard some fans hurling insults at and heckling his teammate Emanuel Terry, a 10-day signee by the Suns, and took action to defend him.

Paul talked back to the fans telling them that they have to “respect” Terry and players like him who help teams during the COVID-19 outbreak that has left multiple NBA teams decimated.

Paul shared this message to players on 10-day contracts, via Haynes: “I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart, all the players with 10-day contracts who stay ready. You are the reason we are making it through the season and we couldn’t do it without you.”

This move by Paul was also inspiring and enlightening to one of the fans who was insulting Terry. Apparently, the fan recognized the error of his ways and sent a message to Terry apologizing for his words.

Terry, a former Basketball Champions League star in Europe, signed a 10-day contract with the Suns on December 27.
