The Dallas Mavericks have been slowly recovering from the coronavirus wave that hit them but another case has been added to their troubles – the head coach Jason Kidd tested positive.
Kidd traveled on the road with the team for the game against the Houston Rockets but will not be able to coach the team and assistant Sean Sweeney will take his place temporarily.
“I feel fine, feels like I’ve got a cold, but my test came back positive,” Kidd said, per Brad Towsend. “I think we all think it’s just a matter of time (before getting COVID).” The coach also said he’s not sure when and how he’ll return to Dallas.
Kidd is the 13th NBA head coach to enter the protocols this season, as the Mavs try to keep it going with a 20-18 record after four straight wins.
