The NBA fined New York Knicks star Julius Randle $25,000 for “egregious use of profane language during media interviews,” the league announced.
Two cases brought the fine on Randle. The first occurred when the 27-year-old big man first mentioned that he “really don’t give a f-k what anybody has to say,” when he was asked about criticism following practice on January 5.
After the Knicks’ comeback win over the Boston Celtics the next day, Randle addressed a thumbs-down gesture that he made at the fans during the third quarter of the match, saying that it was for them to “shut the f–k up.” There were boos in Madison Square Garden earlier when the Celtics were up by 20.
Randle later posted a message to Knicks fans on his Instagram in which he mentioned that he should’ve things differently and express himself with “more professionalism” and “more appropriate language.”

Randle made his comments to the media on two separate occasions – after a Jan. 5 practice and postgame following the Knicks’ 108 – 105 victory over the Boston Celtics on Jan. 6. at Madison Square Garden.
