The Memphis Grizzlies have been building up their team from the ground up for the past few years and they’ve built up quite a good one. After reaching the playoffs last year (lost in the first round), Ja Morant and the Grizzlies are now on a ten-game winning roll with a 29-14 record in the West.
Sitting at the fourth spot, and after beating the Warriors for the most recent win, Morant has no doubt. They are among the elite.
“Number one, we’re one of the best teams in the league. I feel like that’s number one. And number two, we’re showing how deep our roster is. No matter what’s thrown at us, we bounce back from it and come out and win games. We’ve got to keep it rolling, continue to play together, continue to battle.”
And he isn’t the only one thinking like that. Even the opposing coach Steve Kerr gave the organization some props for being patient and making the right moves. So did Steph Curry who will, without doubt, seek revenge later down the season.
“They’re obviously fueled by everything that Ja does and how explosive he is. They obviously got us last year in the play-in game and got us twice this year, and we got them once, so it’s a natural evolution of a team trying to take that next step. The big part is you talk about it right now; you’ve got to show it in the playoffs. We want to be there to try to do that. I know they want to, too. Nobody’s trying to win the verbal conversation right now of who we are in January.”
