Luka Doncic registered the 40th triple-double of his NBA career to lead the Dallas Mavericks to a 112 – 85 win over the Memphis Grizzlies.
Doncic posted 27 points (on 12-22 shots, including 0-6 triples), 12 rebounds and 10 assists vs. arguably the top-form NBA team this month. The Grizzlies were coming off 11 straight wins before facing the Mavericks and that streak came to an end.
The Mavs’ offense worked smoothly for the entire game while their defense held Memphis at just 30 points after the break. “Our defense was amazing,” Doncic said. “[The Grizzlies] have a great offense, and it’s tough to stop them, but I think we did an amazing job in the second half.”
Omer Yurtseven scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for his fourth double-double this month to help the Miami Heat beat the Atlanta Hawks 124 – 118. The Turkish center has been having a pretty solid January with 12.2 points, 15.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists over a 4-2 record for his team.
Danilo Gallinari had 18 points plus 11 rebounds for the Hawks. Bogdan Bogdanovic – Yurtseven’s former teammate at Fenerbahce Beko – had some shooting struggles and finished with seven points on 1-7 plus five assists.
The Orlando Magic snapped a 10-game skid and behind the efforts of the German duo of the Wagner brothers. Moe had a season-high 26 points off the bench while his younger brother Frantz scored 19 to lead the Magic past the Charlotte Hornets, 116 – 109.
