Miles Bridges delivered a career-high 38 points and 12 rebounds as the Charlotte Hornets defeated the New York Knicks 97 – 87 in Madison Square Garden.
Bridges’ performance covered – and then some – for the absence of guard LaMelo Ball (illness). The Hornets forward began the game in a fiery mode, dropping 22 points on 7-8 shots during the first quarter while the entire Knicks team scored 22 in that period.
“I wanted to go out there and be aggressive from the jump and T-Ro started being aggressive and Gordon (Hayward), so it was like a domino effect,” Bridges said. He was also the key player behind an 8-0 run that ultimately pushed the Hornets towards getting a 62 – 44 lead at the break.
For yet another game, the Knicks’ offense was far from efficient and the hosts trailed with a margin of around 20 for the rest of the game until down the stretch. RJ Barrett stood out from New York with 18 points plus 11 rebounds while Evan Fournier finished with six points on 2-9 shots.
