The situation in the Philadelphia 76ers when it comes to Ben Simmons’ status has not changed since earlier in the season and the player is reportedly prepared to sit out the whole season if no trade is found until the deadline.
“He does want to move on of course and restart his life and his career, but he’s been going very diligently to see, to do work with his therapist, and I think the sense is if it takes the entire season to trade him, if it takes all year for the Sixers to find a trade that’s acceptable for them, he’s prepared for that,” ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne reported.
“It sounds unbelievable to think like a guy who is still getting fined for every game, for every practice, for every weight lifting session that he’s missing … He’s OK if he goes the whole season if that’s how it goes.”
Simmons made his trade demand before the 2021-22 season started and later on skipped the training camp. A couple of months later, Simmons stated he wasn’t mentally ready to play and he hasn’t played since.
Simmons is in the second year of a five-year deal worth 177 million dollars. The NBA trade deadline is set for February 10th.
