Three weeks after he got traded to the San Antonio Spurs, Juancho Hernangomez is switching teams again by moving to the Utah Jazz, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. On the other hand, Tomas Satoransky is headed to the Spurs from the Portland Trail Blazers one day following his acquisition from the New Orleans Pelicans.
It’s a three-way deal between the Spurs, the Jazz, and the Blazers that also involves former EuroLeague champion, Joe Ingles. After spending his entire NBA career in Utah since 2014, the Australian swingman and fan-favorite among Jazz supporters is taking his game to Portland.
In total, the Jazz got Nickeil Alexander-Walker from the Blazers, apart from Hernangomez while Spurs got Satoransky plus a second-round pick. Elijah Hughes is joining Ingles in Utah with the Jazz also getting a second-round pick.
This is a move that can prove to be beneficial both for Hernangomez and Satoransky.
With Joe Ingles out of action and traded to open up roster space, the Jazz are in need of a forward who can hit the three and Hernangomez fits the bill, even if he didn’t have the chance to show it this season in Boston and in New Orleans.
As for Satoransky, after dropping out of the Pelicans rotation and speaking about the possibility to return to Europe this summer, if there’s one team that can appreciate his game and revive his NBA career, it’s the Spurs.
