In the wake of the trade deadline that sent Kristaps Porzingis to the Washington Wizards, the Dallas Mavericks have agreed to terms with forward Dorian Finney-Smith on a four-year, $52M contract extension, as reported by The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

The initial deal has been reported to be $52M, though as ESPN’s Tim MacMahon further reports, it could stretch to $55M. This sum is approximately the maximum the forward could earn on an extension, as players earning less than the league’s average salary can receive up to 120% of that average in the first year of their extension. Finney-Smith is currently in the last year of his three-year, $12 million deal which he signed with the franchise in 2019.

Finney-Smith, 28, has become a full-time starter for the Mavs over his three-year stint with the franchise, with an average of 10 points and 5 rebounds while shooting 38% threes in his career.
