Kristaps Porzingis will not play in the last home game of the Washington Wizards prior to the NBA All-Star Game break. His new team ruled him out for Monday’s fixture opposite the Detroit Pistons at Capital One Arena.

Porzingis, 26, has been dealing with a right knee bone bruise. He has been sidelined the last couple of weeks before being traded from the Dallas Mavericks to the Wizards.

His new team will wrap up its schedule before the All-Star Game break with a back-to-back on the road taking on the Indiana Pacers and Brooklyn Nets, Wednesday and Thursday, respectively. It is unclear whether the Latvian big man will be cleared for action or if he will stay on the injury list until after the one-week pause to the 2021-22 Regular Season.

Porzingis closed out his run as a member of the Mavs producing 19.2 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.7 blocks, and 0.7 steals over 34 appearances, earlier in the 2021-22 campaign.

Bradley Beal being ruled out for the remainder of the season due to surgery on his left wrist makes another key player missing for the team coached by Wes Unseld Jr. Center Daniel Gafford remains out as well as he continues to improve his conditioning after being cleared from the league’s COVID-19 health and safety protocols.

Sitting 11th in the Eastern Conference table, half a game behind the Play-In zone, the Wizards have a real uphill battle heading into the crunch time of the Regular Season.
