Denver Nuggets rookie point guard Bones Hyland has been added to the NBA’s Rising Stars challenge as an injury replacement, the league announced Thursday.

Hyland, 21, is the 15th player in the franchise history to be invited in the Rising Stars Challenge, while the Nuggets have a back-to-back presence in the challenge following the participation of Michael Porter Jr. and Facu Campazzo in 2021.

A 16th overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft by the Nuggets, Hyland is posting an average of 8.8 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 18.0 minutes across 46 games this season, including three starts.

He scored a career-high of 27 points, along with 10 rebounds and 2 assists in the team’s 133-96 rout against the Los Angeles Lakers on January 15 and remains the only rookie this season to have scored 27 points or more in the 2021-22 campaign.
