LeBron James has a very clear idea of where he wants to spend the final season of his playing career: On the same team as his eldest son Bronny.
“My last year will be played with my son,” James said in an interview for The Athletic. “Wherever Bronny is at, that’s where I’ll be. I would do whatever it takes to play with my son for one year. It’s not about the money at that point.”
One thing that appears to be certain from James’ declaration is that he will be playing for at least three more years. According to the current NBA rules, the now 17-year-old Bronny James, will become eligible for the NBA Draft in 2024 when his father will be 39 going to 40.
At 37, James is having yet another MVP-caliber season, averaging 29.1 points, 7.9 rebounds and 6.5 assists. While it’s unlikely to retain this kind of superb form when he’s 40, he may very well provide a star impact for any team he plays, considering how well he’s taking care of his body and barring any serious injuries.
James didn’t rule out that he may return to the Cleveland Cavaliers one day and bring his career full circle. “The door’s not closed on that,” he said.
