LeBron James broke down the similarities he finds between the way he and Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic perform, their primary focus on the floor and the way they can punish anyone who may underestimate them.
“I love everything about his [Doncic] game,” LeBron said. “I love everything about him. The way he plays the game reminds me of the way I play the game. We are triple threats. We rebound. We pass, which is the number one thing on our mind: Trying to keep our teammates engaged, keeping our teammates good on the floor, keeping our teammates in rhythm. And we’ll put 40 on you too if you disrespect us.”
This isn’t the first time that James speaks with high praise about Doncic, his team-first mindset and how diverse his game is. In 2020, he talked about how the Slovenian player “controls every aspect of the game” and compared the way he brings the ball on offense to Magic Johnson.
LeBron picked Doncic for his NBA All-Star Game team for a third straight season. “He’s [LeBron] one of the best players to ever play this game,” Doncic mentioned. “As a kid, I looked up to him, so it’s a really special moment when he picks me. I’m really glad he picks me. I think that the team is going to win again, hopefully, so I’ll be 3-0 after this.”
Doncic has described James as one of his major childhood idols while growing up and a player he modeled his game after. The two of them will hit the court together as teammates
