The Dallas Mavericks blew a big lead (71-56 at halftime) yet managed to top the Los Angeles Lakers with a fourth-quarter rally to get a 109-104 win on the road Tuesday.
Luka Doncic posted 7 of his total 25 points in the fourth period, to go along with 8 rebounds and 5 assists to lead all scorers of the Mavs.
Jalen Brunson inspired the Mavs’ 11-point rally to exit the game with 22 points, Dorian Finney-Smith added 16 points and 9 rebounds and Spencer Dinwiddie had 14 points and 9 assists.
LeBron James tapped a double-double with 26 points, 12 rebounds and Carmelo Anthony dropped 20 points for the Lakers which have now dropped their third game in a row.
Ivica Zubac stepped up with a double-double of 22 points and 12 rebounds to help the LA Clippers overcome the Houston Rockets with a 113-100 win on the road and extend their winning streak to four games.
Marcus Morris added 18 points to the Clippers‘ efforts and Reggie Jackson left the game with 17 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds.
Jalen Green led Toronto with 20 points, while big man Alperen Sengun had 13 points and 9 rebounds in 22 minutes while coming off of the bench.
Karl-Anthony Towns and the Minnesota Timberwolves survived a likely postseason series ‘preview’ and beat the Golden State Warriors 129-114 at home. Towns paced his team with 39 points and 9 rebounds and was no match for the Warriors‘ defense. D’Angelo Russell added 22 points for the hosts and Malik Beasley posted 20 points while coming from the bench.
Steph Curry posted 34 points for the Warriors who had five more players scoring in double-digits. Gary Payton II followed with 14 points for Golden State who currently has the second-best overall record but have lost six of their last eight games.
Tomas Satoransky’s return to the Washington Wizards was accompanied by a 116-113 win for the team over the Detroit Pistons at home. The veteran guard had 4 points and 3 rebounds in just 14 minutes of action, while it was Kyle Kuzma who paced the team with 21 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists.
Jerami Grant had 26 points for the Pistons, Cade Cunningham added 20 points and 9 rebounds and Seddiq Bey followed with 19 points.
The Boston Celtics brushed off an early exit of Jaylen Brown (ankle injury) and prevailed over the Atlanta Hawks with a 107-98 victory to bolster their playoffs chances. Jayson Tatum tapped 33 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists, Derrick White and Grant Williams each had 18 points and Marcus Smart added with 16 points and 4 assists and the Celtics have won 10 of their last 12 games (three of four after the All-Star break).
Trae Young posted 31 points and Bogdan Bogdanovic followed with 25 points for the Hawks, that have dropped two of their last three games.
The Toronto Raptors used a late rally to beat the struggling Brooklyn Nets 109-108 at home. Scottie Barnes emerged with 18 points and 10 rebounds, Gary Trent Jr. added 24 points, Pascal Siakam had 18 points before fouling out and Malachi Flynn was added to the list of top scorers with 15 points.
Nets‘ James Johnson tapped 19 points, Seth Curry followed with 18, LaMarcus Aldridge added 16, while veteran guard Goran Dragic posted 10 points coming from the bench.
