Luka Doncic was the guiding hand of the Dallas Mavericks as usual but he also had extra help this time around as the Mavs got a 95-92 in over the Boston Celtics.
Doncic finished the game with a 26-8-8 stat line while also selling the ball three times. Dorian Finney-Smith scored 19 and Spencer Dinwiddie 18 points. All three guys came up big in crunch time.
Boston had an 88-82 lead with four minutes remaining but Dinwiddie’s 2+1 play sparked the comeback fire. Finney-Smith and Doncic followed it up with a three-pointer each to tie the game at 92 and then Dinwiddie drained the game-winner at 11 seconds left.
The Mavs finished the game with four three-point plays and Doncic, in addition to his three-pointer, also assisted on two of them including the game-winning one to Dinwiddie.
Jayson Tatum had 21 points and 11 rebounds but couldn’t make the final shot go in from a very tough position. Al Horford scored 17 and Marcus Smart 15 points. Jaylen Brown scored 14 with a number of electrifying dunks.
Boston was on a five-game winning streak before this loss and had won 17 of the last 20 games. Now they hold the fifth spot in the East with 41-28 while Dallas improved to a 42-26 record in the fifth spot in the West.
