Giannis: “It doesn’t really matter getting the No. 1 seed”

Giannis Antetokounmpo dropped 40 points and had a game-winning block over Joel Embiid to help the Bucks emerge victorious against the Philadelphia 76ers on the road Tuesday, to climb up the second place in the Eastern Conference.

With seven games remaining and just one win separating the reigning champs from the top-seeded Miami Heat (48-28), Giannis was asked whether the top seed is a high priority for the team before the regular-season ends.

“It’s my fourth year with coach Bud, I finished first in the last two of the last three years. I finished first and one year we missed our chance, then the other year we got eliminated in the second round” Giannis told reporters after the game.

“The year we finished third, we went all the way. At the end of the day, I believe that it doesn’t really matter where we finish because you gotta get yourself in a mental place that you know how you got to compete in order to win the series”, he added.

“If you finish 1st and you play the 8th that doesn’t make it easier. All teams are good. Whenever we finish, nothing is going to guarantee the future. Getting the No. 1 seed for me personally, doesn’t really matter”.

The Bucks will next face the Brooklyn Nets (40-36) on the road Thursday, hoping to turn the victory over the Sixers into a streak.
