Frank Vogel, who coached the LA Lakers to the 2020 NBA championship, has concluded his stint with the team which will be making a change. The Lakers’ search for his replacement is expected to be expansive and lengthy but without a clear-cut front-runner, according to ESPN.
Vogel signed a three-year deal in 2019 and agreed to a one-year extension through 2023. He stated that he hasn’t be told anything about his future with the team.
The Lakers concluded a disappointing 33-49 season on Sunday with an overtime win against the Denver Nuggets. A consolation victory after being eliminated from the play-in tournament.
“I haven’t been told s— and I’m going to enjoy tonight’s game, celebrate what these young guys did in terms of scratching and clawing and getting back in this game and getting a W, and we’ll deal with tomorrow, tomorrow,” Vogel said.
