Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid approached Toronto Raptors head coach Nick Nurse in Game 2 of the playoffs series between the two teams, following the latter’s comments after Game 1, resulting in an explicit discourse.
Nurse had commented on the way the Sixers big was officiated in the series opener, stating that “he got away with a lot [of offensive fouls]”, and Embiid shared their sidelines chat during Game 2 with the media in the post-game press conference.
“He’s a great coach, obviously”, the Sixers star told reporters. “What he’s been able to accomplish and I’ve always been a big fan, but I told him, respectfully, to stop b—-ing about calls because I saw what he said last game.”
Embiid powered the Sixers to a 2-0 lead in the series Monday with 31 points, 11 rebounds, and shot 12 of 14 from the free-throw line, more than the entire Raptors team combined (10 of 12). “If you’re gonna triple-team somebody all game, they’re bound to get to the free-throw line or if you’re gonna push them off, and try to hold them off and all that stuff, they’re bound to get to the free-throw line so I feel like every foul was legit and probably should have been more, honestly”
The Raptors will look to bounce back when the series heads to Toronto for Games 3 and 4 this upcoming Wednesday (April 20) and Saturday (April 23).
