Roughly 24 hours after Chicago Bulls’ Zach LaVine has tested positive for COVID-19, the team suffered another blow, as guard Alex Caruso will remain sidelined for Wednesday’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
Caruso, 28, exited late in Game 4 of the series after taking an unintended elbow to the face from Bucks guard Jevon Carter and will miss Game 5 due to concussion protocol.
“It wasn’t really necessarily a flagrant play at all,” Bulls head coach Billy Donovan had told reporters after Game 4. “He [Caruso] just got caught up in a screen there going for the ball and he got hit pretty good. It was right in front of our bench. He was trying to come back in, but once he started bleeding they wanted to bring him back and get the bleeding to stop. And then, I think, once they started looking into him, there was enough of a concern that maybe he has a concussion.”
Defending champions Bucks currently lead 3-1 and will look to close the series at home later on Wednesday, to move to the Eastern Conference semifinals.
