When the NBA playoffs series is tied at 2-2, the winner of Game 5 makes it through 82% of the time and the Milwaukee Bucks have taken the lead against the Boston Celtics with a close 110-107 comeback win.
Milwaukee was down 14 points with ten minutes remaining but they didn’t panic. The reigning champions knew there was more than enough time to turn things around and give themselves a chance at victory.
Giannis Antetokounmpo led the winning squad with 40 points and 11 rebounds while Jrue Holiday followed with 24 points but also delivered a crucial block and a crucial steal on back-to-back possessions against Marcus Smart. Those plays sealed the deal for Milwaukee.
“We’ve seen 14 points [disappear] just like that. We know it’s the playoffs, and we know it’s a great offensive team and defensive team, but we’ve also done it ourselves,” Holiday said and added.
“We just always play with that confidence. That there’s going to be time left, and if we take care of business, we’ll always give ourselves a chance.”
Bobby Portis also had a significant role with 14 points and 15 rebounds including the go-ahead basket down the stretch with 11 seconds remaining. It was the first lead for Milwaukee since the second quarter.
For Boston, Jayson Tatum scored 34 in addition to Jaylen Brown’s 26 and Marcus Smart’s 15 points.
The Celtics had a great chance to position themselves in an advantageous position but let it slip through their hands and now the Milwaukee Bucks have a chance to close out the series in front of their fans.
