Sergi Oliva is moving from the Utah Jazz to the Portland Trail Blazers to take on the assistant general manager role, according to reports by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
The Catalan coach joined the Jazz in 2020 as an assistant under Quin Snyder, though his NBA journey began back in 2014 when he became part of the Philadelphia 76ers‘ front office, as a Vice President of Strategy.
Oliva is the third assistant GM picked by the franchise’s new permanent GM Joe Cronin. During the season, Portland signed Andrae Patterson and earlier this month, they reached an agreement with ESPN’s Mike Schmitz who is expected to join the team in July.
Prior to his NBA ventures, Oliva spent 12 years as a head coach at the youth level in Catalonia with Club Esportiu Gelida and with Club Basqueet Hortonenc at the senior level.
