After completing the season in Europe as MVP of the Israeli Winner League with Bnei Herzliya, forward/center Chinanu Onuaku will travel to three different destinations to pursue a return to the NBA.
Onuaku will fly to Toronto for a workout with the Raptors on 13/6 and a week afterward he will go to Dallas to practice for the Mavericks. At the end of the month, the Boston Celtics will also test the 25-year-old big man in a workout session.
After a strong season in Israeli, Onuaku also attracted interest from several EuroLeague clubs, including Maccabi Tel Aviv which he faced – and beat – in the Israeli League semifinals.
Overall in 2021-22, Onuaku averaged 15.7 points, 9.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.7 assists in the Winner League regular season, along with 17.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.6 steals in the playoffs to lead Herzliya to the Finals.
Onuaku played six NBA games with the Houston Rockets from 2016 to 2018 before moving to Europe.
