Milwaukee Bucks forward Thanasis Antetokounmpo has exercised the 2022-23 player option ($1.88 million) on his contract with the Milwaukee Bucks and will stay with the team for the upcoming season, according to Hoopshype’s Michael Scotto.
Antetokounmpo, 29, joined the Bucks in 2019 to become a teammate of his younger brother, superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. Throughout three years in Milwaukee, the Greek forward participated in 145 games in the regular season and the playoffs and was given the nickname “Thanasty” by Bucks fans for his energetic play. In 2021, he became an NBA champion when the Bucks won their first title in 50 years.
In 2021-22, Antetokounmpo averaged 3.6 points and 2.1 rebounds in 9.9 minutes over 48 games in the regular season. He registered a career-high 27 points in a loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers in April.
Before the upcoming NBA season, both Thanasis and Giannis are expected to join Greece in the FIBA EuroBasket (1/9 – 15/9).
