NBA superstar Kevin Durant requested a trade out of the Brooklyn Nets as Shams Charania of The Athletic tweeted first. The former MVP had been previously reported to be considering future options in light of an uncertain situation regarding the Nets‘ roster and their championship potential and it appears that he decided to continue his career away from Brooklyn.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski named two teams that Durant sees himself playing for: The Phoenix Suns and the Miami Heat. There will likely be a lot more candidates to acquire KD since the news about his trade request sends shockwaves around the league.
Of course, the Nets will look for the best possible deal that will either land them an abundance of assets, like first-round Draft picks, or some other stars in return. Durant signed a four-year, 198 million extension with the Nets in 2021 and clubs that want to accommodate his salary will have to clear a considerable amount of cap space.
