With a couple of years left on his current contract, Devin Booker pledged to four additional years as a member of the Phoenix Suns, as reported by Adrian Wojnarowski Friday morning.

Booker, 25, was eligible for the supermax extension. According to NBA rules, he had to wait until July 1 and from there formally agreed to add four more years and $224M on his contract for a combined total of six years and $295M. The new contract runs through the 2027-28 season.

After coming out of Kentucky in 2015, the Suns selected him with the 13th overall pick in the NBA draft. It has been all Phoenix since. Averaging 23.7 points, 4.7 assists, 4.0 rebounds, 0.8 steals, and 0.3 blocks per contest over 509 appearances paints the picture of his NBA career so far. Last season’s efforts earned him a third straight All-Star Game nod and a spot in the All-NBA First Team.

The Michigan-born guard has emerged as the face of the franchise and among the key assets in the resurgence of recent years. After missing the Playoffs for ten years in a row, head coach Monty Williams taking over the Suns led to a run to the 2021 NBA Finals opposite the Milwaukee Bucks and Finals MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. One year later his side was knocked out by the Dallas Mavericks and Slovenian sensation Luka Doncic in the Western Conference Semifinals.

Looking into the rest of the offseason, the future of Deandre Ayton and a potential move for Kevin Durant are the projected highlights.
