Lamar Odom opened up about his late friend and former teammate Kobe Bryant to TMZ. “He comes to me in dreams,” he noted talking to the online newspaper based in California.
Odom, 42, mentioned this happens ‘often’. He feels the presence as help.
“[He’s] just talking to me all the time,” he described the dreams, “Hang in there. Keep fighting.”
Landing in Los Angeles, he also shared the dreams usually display himself and Mamba playing basketball.
“His spirit, it’s so strong,” he added, “To me, he’s like not too far away. Especially when you’re dreaming of someone, and they talk to you in that dream, you’re definitely going to remember it.”
Odom played for the Los Angeles Lakers alongside Mamba from 2004 to 2011. The stint produced the back-to-back NBA championships in 2009 and 2010 and at the individual level the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award in 2011. He went on to join the Dallas Mavericks and return to the Los Angeles Clippers via trade, and after had an extremely brief stint in Europe as a member of Laboral Kutxa, now called Baskonia. But numerous issues, including multiple heart attacks, prevented him from getting his career back on track.
“It’s crazy,” he added on the dreams involving Mamba, “That’s why I love coming back to L.A., too. I feel him.”
Bryant died in a helicopter crash northwest of Downtown Los Angeles in early 2020. All nine people on board were killed, including his daughter Gianna.
