After being selected with the 27th overall pick of the 2022 NBA draft, Serbian forward Nikola Jovic displayed his talents in the NBA Summer League playing for the Miami Heat in the 2022 California Classic.
Jovic, 19, debuted with poor shooting making out a three-point showing, and added six points in his second appearance. Moving to the last day of the four-team tournament, he went for 25 points behind 9/16 field goals and pulled down nine rebounds leading his side to the 94-70 victory versus the Golden State Warriors in San Francisco’s Chase Center Tuesday evening.
Portuguese center Neemias Queta averaged 12.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.0 steals, 1.3 blocks, and 1.3 assists per game. Heading to his second season in the NBA, he powered the Sacramento Kings to a 3-0 W-L tally and the top spot of the standings over the Los Angeles Lakers (2-1), Heat (1-2), and Warriors (0-3).
At the launch of the 2022 Salt Lake City Summer League, Spanish Santi Aldama recorded 13 points, three rebounds, and two assists as the Memphis Grizzlies held on to beat the Philadelphia 76ers, 103-99. Serbian Aleksej Pokusevski had 11 points, four rebounds, three steals, and two assists for the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 98-77 victory against the Utah Jazz.
The second four-team tournament in the form of the Salt Lake City Summer League will conclude Thursday. Coming up next will be the Las Vegas NBA Summer League featuring all 30 NBA teams and lasting until next Sunday.
