Baskonia forward Simone Fontecchio will be signing a two-year contract with the Utah Jazz to make his first-time jump to the NBA according to Eurodevotion. His three-year deal (until 2024) with the Basque club includes an NBA exit clause that expires in July.
Fontecchio’s American representative confirmed the deal to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The player will receive $6.25 million.
On the other hand, his Spanish club, Baskonia, will get a buyout around one million euros.
Last season, Fontecchio had 11.0 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 26:27 minutes over 22 EuroLeague games with Baskonia in the most productive run of his career so far. The 26-year-old Italian player shot 40.2 percent (49-122) on 3-pointers.
In the Spanish ACB League, Fontecchio averaged 12.5 points and 3.7 rebounds in 25:38 minutes over 38 games.
Fontecchio has also been rumored to be of interest to the Los Angeles Lakers and that he could be receiving an offer by the club.
