NBA champion Andrew Wiggins discussed the decision to protect himself against COVID-19 and implied regretting receiving the vaccine.
Wiggins, 27, wrapping up an interview with FanSided additionally talked about being forced to receive the vaccine. Had he refused the vaccine, local health and safety guidelines would have prevented him from playing for the Golden State Warriors in home games in Chase Center.
“I still wish I didn’t get it to be honest with you. But you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do,” he replied to a question about his vaccination bringing the Golden State Warriors together early in the season, “I did it, and I was an All-Star this year, and champion. So, that was the good part, just not missing out on the year, the best year of my career. But for my body, I just don’t like putting all that stuff in my body, so I didn’t like that and I didn’t like that it wasn’t my choice. I didn’t like that it was either get this or don’t play.”
The Canadian international small forward went on to become an NBA champion. He recorded 17.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game over 73 appearances in the 2021-22 NBA Regular Season. Coming up next was the crowning achievement of his career so far backed by the personal contribution of 16.5 points, 75. rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.0 blocks, and 1.0 steals per contest over 22 appearances in the Playoffs.
