LeBron James has agreed on a two-year, $97.1 million contract extension with the Lakers, including a player option for the 2024-2025 season, per multiple reports.
James had been entering the final year of a deal worth $44.5M. The new deal can increase to $111 million, depending on the rise of the 2023-24 salary cap.
The contract reportedly includes a player option for the 2024-25 season, matching that of teammate Anthony Davis, and a 15% trade kicker. It would bring James’s potential guaranteed career earnings north of $500 million, edging Kevin Durant of the Nets for the largest sum in NBA history.
