In his return to action after 514 days, Zion Williamson showed plenty of glimpses of the player that the New Orleans Pelicans drafted and the one they hope he’ll appear on the floor once the NBA season officially begins.
Williamson scored 13 points on 4-6 shooting from the field through the 15 minutes he spent on the floor in his first game since April 2021, as the Pelicans beat the Chicago Bulls 129 – 125. He had a couple of pretty explosive moments, like a dunk early after a baseline drive and a phenomenal chasedown block on Patrick Williams.
Well, the latter was ultimately a goaltending (doubtful) but the player remains very impressive.
“Just being out there with my guys… playing the game I love,” Zion said to NBA on TNT in the post-game flash interview when asked what was the best part of the match.
“I was most excited,” Williamson later mentioned in the presser. “It was dope because it was my first game playing in an NBA Game after a long time.”
His teammates were also quite hyped. “You’re going to pack the paint when you see him with the ball,” Devonte Graham said. “He makes it a lot easier.”
