After being traded from Oklahoma City to the Houston Rockets, Theo Maledon’s presence in his new team seems to be more than short. Per multiple reports by local media, the Rockets intend to cut Maledon.
The 21-year-old French point guard was the 34th pick of the 2020 NBA draft and so far he had a solid role with the rebuilding Thunders, playing in 116 NBA in totals while averaging 23,2 minutes.
However, despite his numbers (8.8 ppg, 2.9 asp) he didn’t convince the Thunder that he was part of their future, and neither the Rockets were eager to take a chance on him.
Before leaving for the NBA, Maledon played for Tony Parker’s ASVEL both in the EuroLeague and in the French top division. However, according to Eurohoops sources, the player is not eager to return to Europe at this point of his career.
