Three-time NBA slam dunk contest winner Nate Robinson announced that he is currently receiving treatment for renal kidney failure.

The 38 years old Robinson told Sham Charania who made the announcement via his social media:

“I am currently undergoing treatment for Renal Kidney Failure and have been privately dealing with it for the last four years. I’m sharing this now because I want to be the voice for all those who are having trouble speaking about this illness and come together for a greater cause — our health. I was never a vocal leader on the court, I preferred to lead by example, but now it’s time for me to speak up and help all those affected by or dealing with Kidney Disease.”

In his long basketball career despite being just 1,75 meters tall, Robinson also played for 14 games with Hapoel Tel Aviv, scoring 46 points in an Israeli League playoffs game against Hapoel Jerusalem.

He played for eight NBA teams in 10 years, including the Boston Celtics and the New York Knicks.
