The Utah Jazz beat the Los Angeles Lakers for the second time in four nights cruising to an easy 139-116 victory despite a 29-point outing from Anthony Davis. Seven Jazz players scored in double-digits led by Lauri Markkanen’s 23 points. The Jazz moved to 9-3 with the victory.
Coming into this NBA season, most expected the Utah Jazz to be a bad team. After years of underachieving, they decided to blow the roster up by trading All-Stars Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell, leaving them with a cast of young prospects and spare junkyard parts.
But against all odds, Utah is 9-3 in the year, currently, the best team in the West, and a big part of it all is Lauri Markkanen. So far in his first season with the Jazz, he has already had two 30-plus-point games, and he appears to be their best all-around player.
“I think Lauri does a lot of things that show up in the stat sheet, and he does a lot of things that don’t” first-year Jazz coach Will Hardy said.
“His defense probably isn’t talked about enough“.
