Argentinian point guard Facundo Campazzo has officially become a free agent.

The Dallas Mavericks waived him to make room on the squad for Kemba Walker, as Shams Charania of The Athletic reported first.

As for the experienced point guard, four-time NBA All-Star, heading to the Mavs, it was previously reported by insider Marc Stein.

Campazzo, 31, joined the Mavericks just over a month ago. Struggling for playing time, he checked in for eight games of the 2022-23 NBA Regular Season. His efforts resulted in 1.3 points, 1.1 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.3 rebounds per contest. As a member of the Denver Nuggets in the two previous seasons, 2020-21 and 2021-22, he averaged 5.7 points, 3.4 assists, 2.0 rebounds, 1.1 steals, and 0.3 blocks per game over 144 appearances between the Regular Season and Playoffs.

Prior to signing with the Mavericks, he was heavily linked to his former team, Real Madrid. “I wish there can be a place for him. If he fits, he is welcome,” the head coach of the Madrid giant, Chus Mateo, then addressed the rumors. Playing for Los Blancos, he was crowned Turkish Airlines EuroLeague champion in 2015 and 2018, and also captured multiple domestic titles.

Walker, 32, has been stuck in the pool of free agents. After being traded away by the New York Knicks in July, he was waived by the Detroit Pistons on 17 October.

On a four-game losing streak, the Mavericks and Luka Doncic fell to 9-10 and half a win outside the Play-In Zone of the Western Conference.
