Former NBA star for the New York Knicks, Amar’e Stoudemire, was allegedly arrested for punching his own daughter.
Stoudemire, who played in the NBA for 14 years, was arrested on Saturday just hours after receiving a master’s degree from the University of Miami, reports Fox Sports.
According to Fox Sports correspondent Andy Slater, Stoudemire was charged with battery, and told officers his daughter had “received a whooping from him for being disrespectful and a liar”. Stoudemire allegedly punched his daughter in the face, before slapping her several times. He is yet to provide any public comment.
The Miami Herald allegedly obtained a copy of the arrest report, which alleged police had seen the victim bleeding on her face.
“I observed blood stains on the victim’s sweater and sweatpants,” the arrest report allegedly states. “The mother of the victim showed me the photo she received from her daughter, which shows the victim crying and blood running down her face.”
Stoudemire was allegedly held in Miami-Dade Corrections custody, with bond set at $1,500. Stoudemire has two daughters, aged 17 and 14, with his ex-wife. The Police report does not state which of the two he is alleged to have hit.
