Dallas Mavericks defeated Los Angeles Lakers 124-115, but before the game, a statue in honor of legendary Dirk Nowitzki was unveiled outside American Airlines Center.
Lakers star LeBron James, who fought against the German for 16 seasons, commented on Dirk’s statue and legacy with many compliments.
“I think he’s the greatest international player ever. I put him right there with Manu. … That boy was a cold man. Dirk was cold. He revolutionized what a stretch four big could look like,” James said.
In his 21 NBA season, Nowitzki collected 14 All-Star games and was part of the 12 All-NBA teams. He was NBA Finals MVP in 2011 and averaged 20,7 points and 7,5 rebounds.
Time will tell if his successor at Dallas, Luka Doncic, or two-time MVP Nikola Jokic, will claim the title James gave to Nowitzki as the best international player of all time.
