A special night in Ohio, as Cleveland Cavaliers beat Chicago Bulls 145-134 in overtime, with Donovan Mitchel scoring 71 points.
He finished the match by shooting 22/34 from the field and 20/25 from the free-throw line, adding 11 assists and eight rebounds.
“To be in the record book with guys like Wilt is truly humbling. I always believed I could be one of the best players in the league. I’m speechless and blessed to be in the company of that greatness,” Donovan Mitchel said.
He posted a franchise record, of course, recorded a new career high, but also made history with the first 70 points/10 assists performance in NBA ever.
Michell is only the 5th player with a 70-point performance since Wilt Chamberlain, as he scored the most points in the NBA since Kobe Bryant dropped 81 on Toronto Raptors on January 22, 2006.
Mitchel grabbed his own missed free throw and made a circus shot with three seconds left in the fourth quarter to tie the game and force overtime, already breaking the Cavs‘ record with 58 points. Then he added 13 in the extra five minutes and took the Bulls down.
Cedi Osman also had a great game with 19 points, while Nikola Vucevic added 20 and 13 rebounds for the losing side, with Goran Dragic scoring just two points.
