Golden State Warriors lost to Phoenix Suns 113-125, even with Steph Curry returning from the 11-game absence.
The two-time NBA MVP returned after recovering from a partially dislocated left shoulder and scored 24 points on 8-22 shooting, with his Splash brother Klay Thompson notching 29 points, but it wasn’t enough.
“First quarter felt good, just to be back out there, running with my guys, and feeling the energy in the building. I felt I got stronger as the game went on, which is exciting knowing, the body will respond and getting back where I was before the injury“, Curry said.
He said he doesn’t think about the injured shoulder.
“Any time you have an injury, whether I feel it or not, is more so I’m not thinking about it during the game. You need to get to that point before getting cleared to play. When I’m hooping, I’m not thinking about it at all.”
The Warriors suffered their third straight loss, even though the Suns were short-handed, playing without Devin Booker, Chris Paul, and DeAndre Ayton.
Still, the Arizona team managed to snap a six-game losing streak against Golden State, who had a complete starting five with Curry, Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, and Draymond Green on the court from the beginning, alongside Kevon Looney.
“To go 6-5 without Steph is an accomplishment“, coach Steve Ker said, admitting his side let its “guard down” with the Suns missing important players. “We didn’t start competing until it was too late.“
