If the 2023 All-Star Game voting was over tonight, then Giannis Antetokounmpo would be a team captain for a third time after 2019 and 2020.
Antetokounmpo has passed Kevin Durant after the third fan vote return and is now leading all players of the Eastern Conference. The Milwaukee Bucks superstar has gathered 5,970,196 votes while KD, who previously owned the first place in the East, has 5,838,182.
As the NBA announced, fan votes count three times on Friday (20/1) while the whole procedure will end Saturday (21/1).
There haven’t been any significant changes in the Western Conference where LeBron James dominates with 6,506,682 votes. He’s en route to becoming a captain for a sixth straight time.
Nikola Jokic trails James among frontcourt players and is fourth overall in the West, having 4,718,218 votes. Third-placed Luka Doncic stands at 4,905,655 votes, right behind Steph Curry (5,151,822) in the list of guards.
The 2023 All-Star Game will take place on February 19 in Vivint Arena, Salt Lake City, home of the Utah Jazz.
