When Nikola Jokic grabs a triple-double, the Denver Nuggets win. That’s the rule, as with his 20th of the season, they defeated Charlotte Hornets 119-105.
The Colorado team is 20-0 in his triple-double matches, and this time he recorded 30 points, 16 rebounds, ten assists and pushed short-handed Nuggets at Charlotte.
Nikola now has twice as many triple-doubles as Dallas’ Luka Doncic, who is second in league with 10.
In his last two MVP-awarded seasons, Jokic had 16 and 19 triple-doubles.
“It’s just how I play, and I don’t even think about it. It’s really important just to get back to winning after our loss (Thursday night) to Orlando,” Jokic said. “We didn’t start well, but our defense won the game in the second half.”
The Dallas Mavericks lost to Sacramento Kings 133-128 in overtime; in the first game, Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving played together as teammates.
The Slovenian had 25 points and nine rebounds, while the newcomer from Brooklyn added 28 points.
“I thought it was good,” Mavericks coach Jason Kidd is optimistic. “It was just natural. Nothing forced. It’s going to make us that much better. They did an incredible job.”
For the winning side, the Lithuanian player of 2022, Domantas Sabonis, recorded his 44th double-double of the season with 22 points and 14 rebounds.
Los Angeles Lakers defeated defending champions Golden State Warriors on the road 103-109, as Dennis Schroder led the scoring charts for the winning team.
The German international got the job done in Lebron James’s absence, scoring 26 points with three rebounds and assists.
Brooklyn Nets gave an excellent fight to the Philadelphia 76ers but lost 98-101, thanks to another monstrous performance from Joel Embiid, who 37 points with 13 rebounds.
In the Florida Derby, Miami Heat one in overtime at Orlando against Magic 103-107, with Paolo Banchero scoring 16 with 13 rebounds for the losing side, Moritz Wagner added 14, and his brother Franz 10 points.
Washington Wizards crushed Indiana Pacers with a 127-113 win, as Kristaps Porzingis recorded another double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds, while Deni Avdija added 16 points.
Atlanta Hawks took a convincing 125-106 win over San Antonio Spurs, with Clint Capela’s double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds and Bogdan Bogdanovic scoring 13 points for the winning side, while Jeremy Sochan had 18 with nine rebounds for the losing team.
New York Knicks defeated Utah Jazz 126-120 at the Garden, with Isaiah Hartenstein recording six points and 14 rebounds. Lauri Markkanen led the losing side with 29 points.
Chicago Bulls lost to Cleveland Cavaliers at Ohio 97-89, as Nikola Vucevic recorded another double-double with 14 points and rebounds for the team from Illinois.
